Why would he go to a breeder instead of a rescue. Geez. Thats just great. Millions of homeless animals in rescues and shelters and he goes to a frickin breeder.

Awesome!! And not all breeders are evil. My German Shepherd comes from a breeder, of working German lines that preserve the original German Shepherd dog breed. She *very* rarely breeds, and tremendous research goes into each breeding. He is my Service dog, and has the most amazing temperament.
So congrats to the Bidens, on choosing the a truly amazing breed!

I agree with both Jamie and Tamandra: At first thought, I was 'breeder?' but then - the Biden's chose a reputable breeder (and one would assume such of the dog is going to receive police quality training) - my second thought was that this was a brilliant decision.; how many threats on him and his have already been eliminated by this news. Would you go after the man with a police-trained dog?
And Mr Biden gets his big-dog family member. As the parent of multiple rescues, I still think this can be good.
(Beside which, who is to say that the dog they are adopting would not have otherwise ended up in rescue...)
