What in the name of all that is holy was D.C.'s Omni Shoreham Hotel thinking when it decided to offer a free puppy with any purchase of it's $440,000 "Live Like a President" inauguration package?!
The Washington Animal Rescue League was having none it, and after they sent the Omni a letter that included this passage...
"Dogs are not commodities or possessions to be acquired—and perhaps later disposed of—at a whim. They are companions with whom we deliberately enter and build life-long relationships."
...the hotel rescinded it's offer and is now making a donation to the Washington Humane Society instead. Phew!
Via District, Schmistrict, a cool blog about "kickin it in in the Capital." Looks like a blog to bookmark for inauguration week, if you're not one of the millions planning to attend in person.
