Cappy's Breeder Rejects Obama Dog Connection

Cappy's Mother, Ch. Amigo's Phor What Its Worth AKA Penny from Amigo Portuguese Water Dogs

Yesterday I published my theory the Senator Edward Kennedy's third Portuguese Water Dog, Cappy (short for Captains Courageous), will become the Obama family's dog this Easter.  Today, I did a little more detective work and contacted Cappy's breeder, Art Stern of Amigo Portuguese Water Dogs in Dallas, TX. 

I asked Mr. Stern if there was any validity to my Obama dog theory.  He kindly responded via email:

That rumor has been going around the dog world for months. I can tell
you that Vicki & Ted love Cappy and wouldn't give him to anybody - not
even the first family.

So, perhaps there is some unknown Portie pup out there who has been training away in anonimity until this weekend when he or she will burst onto the political and dog-lover stage as the most famous and hotly anticipated pet in the world.

We'll soon find out.
